SPEAKER: SYLVIA TAMALE
Sylvia Tamale, author of Decolonization and Afro-Feminism, is a professor of Law and a sociologist at Makerere University and a former Dean of its Law Faculty. Her research focuses on gender, law and sexuality, feminist jurisprudence and women in politics. She’s also an award-winning human rights defender for women, sex workers, homosexuals, and refugees.

‘Reading Decolonisation in Africa Today’ is a group hosted by the Institute of African Studies-University of Ghana, Legon and is a part of the wider supra-national research project (Other Universals) involving up to 9 universities from 5 countries on the continent and beyond. The group (which is open to all) meets every Thursday to discuss pre-circulated texts on decolonisation.
