Abstract
This feature article offers personal, candid reflections on African feminisms, movement-building and the bumpy journey towards crafting the Charter of Feminist Principles for African Women. I recount the story of creating an African-initiated, decolonial collective feminist space from the perspective of one in the “eye” of the storm. I analyse how, together with colleagues, we navigated the whirlwind of events that led to the first African Feminist Forum in Accra, Ghana in 2006 and the adoption of the Feminist Charter. I also reflect on some lessons learnt from this collective experience for future movement-building and feminist mobilisations.
Keywords: feminist organising, solidarity, feminist accountability, resources and power
